History

OLDTIMER was originally formed in 2009 by Shun Kato, Toshimitsu Mizutani, and Yasuchika Asato. In 2012, Lily joined as vocalist and guitarist, marking the official start of OLDTIMER as it is known today. Since then, the band has independently released two demo CDs, two mini albums, and contributed to various compilation projects. In 2025, OLDTIMER released three consecutive singles. In April 2026, the band successfully held a self-produced live event that attracted a large audience. This was followed by the release of two more singles in June. The band continues to expand its reach across Japan with an appearance at the urban music festival Inspiration Okinawa 2026 in August and its first Kansai tour, including Osaka and Kyoto, scheduled for September.

Sound

In 2024, the band shifted to a bass-less lineup, featuring two guitars, drums, and a mix of electronic elements such as synths, backing tracks, pads, and percussion. This hybrid setup allows them to combine organic and electronic sounds in a unique way. Their music is both introspective and powerful, crafted for large stages and open-air settings, connecting with audiences on a deeper level.

Background

Built upon the multicultural backgrounds of its members, OLDTIMER reconstructs musical influences from around the world through its own unique perspective, creating a sound that moves freely beyond genre boundaries. In addition to Japanese and English, fragments of Spanish and Portuguese occasionally appear in their lyrics, reflecting the band's ongoing exploration beyond linguistic and cultural borders.
